GOBBLE GOBBLE GOBBLE!

These are the perfect words to describe what’s going to happening from this day forward as we go head first into the Holiday Season (actually it started when Halloween was over!). It is time to gobble up food, that last X-BOX 3 and We Stations in the stores before X-mas and that devil’s juice until the last cheer of Happy New Year 2007.

In the meantime, your boy, Ma’atology, was able to jump off another new week of stuff for yawl and post a day early so I don’t have to try and do a post with a turkey leg in my hand.
In short, as far as local stuff, the big stuff has been Belleville Police Chief Dave Ruebhausen was officially fired from Mayor Mark Eckert cause of loafin on the J.O.B and for, "socializing with young officers in taverns and not communicating with other white shirts on the force" (MAN, AND IT TOOK THIS LONG FOR HIM TO GET FIRED???). The mayor is still claiming that the chief’s firing had nothing to do with the Nov. 10 standoff in downtown Bellville which got Sgt. Jon Brough shot in the face (he is blinded and cant smell as of this writing (come on now, who does the mayor think he is fooling? Seems like it’s a wash your car after it rains kind of scenario….)….

A picture book about the true story about two male penguins raising a baby penguin "And Tango Makes Three" got Shiloh Elementary parents in an uproar who worried about the book's availability to children -- and the reluctance of school administrators to restrict access to it. The concerns are the latest involving "And Tango Makes Three," the illustrated children's book based on a true story of two male penguins in New York City's Central Park Zoo that adopted a fertilized egg and raised the chick as their own. Parents fear it will support homosexuality in schools and wanted the book to a section for mature issues, perhaps even requiring parental permission before a child can check it out.

Why are parents trippin here? I would think there are more issues to worry about like the food kids are eating in school? Safety issues? And put ting the book in a more mature section of the school? Hello, aren’t these kids in elementary school? They are not mature yet? Hello. .

Comedian Michael Richards aka Kramer is kicking himself right about now after he went on a racial slur tirade at the Laugh Factory in Southern Cali (I went there when I went to Cali) and calling black hecklers in the crowd niggers and tying them up and sticking forks up their assess. He went on Dave Letterman via satellite (and his Seinfeld colleague Jerry Seinfeld just so happened to be the guest that night to try and promote the DVD of the Seinfeld show!!)) saying that he wasn’t a racist and that he was sorry. Should we forgive him? Hell to the Naw. He knew exactly what he was doing and that is the problem that he felt he could say those racial slurs and thought nothing would happen. It was elevated cause people in the crowd turned their cam phones on and sent them to the net(like tmz.com) .Ands you know he’s out of touch cause he called black folk, Afro-American (Hello, that term was outdated in the early 1970s! Jimmy Kimmel did a great joke on this on the American Music Awards when he said, after the Black eye peas won an award, he said, that is the group that Kramer calls, the Afro-American Eye Peas!) I hear folks are going to protest the laugh factory from this. Here we go again, first the Grease man, then Mel Gibson, now Kramer.….

Then the production of the week was Hollywood movie star Tom Cruise’s "invisible" marriage to actress Katie Holmes in Italy. It was definitely a spectacle (Critics call'd it Mission Impossible 4) as they made it a red carpet gala with private guests to witness (ala Liza Minnelli-David Gest wedding in 2002). They are now honeymooning in the Maldives. I wonder if there will be a tape of that action? Might as well, everything else is public….

Media tycoon Rupert Murdoch cancelled "ill-considered" plans for a book and interview by OJ Simpson after a huge public outcry from people against it. In a dramatic climb-down that followed a storm of outrage over the proposed Simpson media blitz, Australian-born magnate Murdoch said News Corp. was pulling the plug on both a book and two-part television interview entitled "If I Did It, Here's How It Happened," chronicling how he would have murdered his ex-wife and her friend in 1994 -- if he were the killer. But news of the Simpson media blitz sparked howls of condemnation, with the families of victims leading a chorus of disgust. The writing was definitely on the wall on this one, but you know somebody got a copy of the book and tape and will sell both on EBay, you know its comin….

Rapper-cum-actor WILL SMITH refuses to send his two children with wife JADA PINKETT SMITH to school, claiming the system limits their education. Smith insists he didn't learn his most valuable lessons in school and claims there are no limits to what he can teach. He is quoted by saying, "Give me the book, and I do not need somebody to stand up in front of the class." I guess err body aint able to take their kids out of school to home school them, but hey, more power to him if he’s doin that. Oh, did I forget that he’s about to promote a new movie (The Pursuit of Happyness) that co-stars one of his kids? Oh okay.

OK… on to my out town travels last week.

Last Thursday, I checked out body paint artist Jessica Dana’s Pin Up Bowl Pin-up calendar Party held at the Pin Up Bowl in the Delmar loop(THAT’S HER IN PIC ABOVE WITH DELMAR LOOP MOGUL JOE EDWARDS) directed by Dana. I got there about 9 ish and greeted Dana and her Pin Up girls. The event was nice. They had about 30 or so guests who were invited to the free event with the rest of the bowlers already there (CLEVER WAY OF GETTING A CROWD). I took snaps of the models and walked around being social.

There also were three odd occurrences that happened this week as well that I found interesting. The first was, there was this white guy who was invited named Brodie (I got a pic of him on OUT 114) who was the spitting mage of Napoleon Dynamite juts on speed. This guy was getting autographs form the models like he was a stalker after the strip club, then he shoed his chest and it had the letters R and L on his nipples. All of a sudden he started pretending to lick his nipples! (I had to take a shot of this for yawl to believe it) Then he became a camera director as he set up the models for pics and on two occasions, he lied down on the floor and table opened his legs wide and pointed t his groin for them to get inspired (EUGH). CLASSSSSSSSSSSSSIC.

Next was when some of the guys and girls of the party were in the men’s bathroom! I walked near the corridor where the bathrooms were and saw that the women were using the men’s restroom as well!

Lastly was when this young Asian girl was getting carded. I couldn’t get the gist of what was going on, but it seems as though the girl may have been under aged and the waiter was asking for her I.D, but he also asked for her credit card, so maybe she was using someone else’s card. I don’t know, either way, it caused a scene of sorts up in there.

In the house were Delmar loop entrepreneur Joe Edwards, model Ali Moseir, First Civilizations founder Ira Jones and St. Louis American Graphic Designer Melvin Moore (so that was a medium sweater you were wearing? )LOL)

On Friday, I checked out Drunken Fish’s invite only party (PIC OF DF OWNER MUNSOK WITH FEMALE FRIENDS ABOVE) that going on at that restaurant. This event was just OK. I was expecting more flash and dash especially with this being an invite only event. I got there about 8:30 pm because between 8-9 was for media and VIP. Well, when I was driving there, I looked in and it looked as though it was no one up in there. The parking meters next to the DF and across from it were all valet parking (which was 3 boens). I parked in a parking lot close to DF (which was also 3 bones) and walked to the DF. There was this bouncer guy in a black suit with a clipboard and I asked him where the VIP section was and he said to just go upstairs.

When I did, you can count the number of people who was there from the media (only me and two photographers from St.,Louis Magazine) and some of the DF owner Munsko’s family and friends were up there. I sat down and just stared in space cause I was expecting more of a turnout for a special invite event. Then I was like, where were the appetizers? (I will get to that later). Meanwhile, I called Kameren who was doing body messages at the Tuxedo Room (where Stress free Fridays were this week) and he said that it was happening a lil bit there and told me that Bill (Beene from the American) was up in there. After a five minute convo, I walked downstairs to see where the people were.

As I was looking out from the inside, I saw there were a small line of people waiting to get in. As I was looking out, there was this pretty white girl that was standing across from me who was standing in front of a beer tub (it had parrot Bay on the front but Miller Light was in the tub) and she asked me was I part of the media. I looked back and I said yes. Come to find out, it was up and coming comedienne Brie Johnson (who does the I’m a black girl trapped in a white girls; body routine). I remembered her from the Arvin Mitchell Comedy Show at the Duck Room about five months ago at Blueberry Hill where we talked about doing screenwriting. She told me that she was in a car accident after I saw her last and that she was back to getting her career together (She also gave me some skinny on some of the STL players that I will blind item next week).
One of the people who came through was Earl McDowell, a brother whose father is Senior and used to coach football at King Junior High back in the 80s. Earl told me the skinny on his life. As far as the patrons, there was one instance when a group of women screamed and dropped something that made a clash on the floor. Come to find out the table of about seven women were doing Saki bombs and getting TOE UP!

On the 1s and 2s was DJ Crucial. When I talked to him between beats (He mashed up Toto’s "Africa" with David Banners; "Play: that was tight to def) come to find out, he produced the CD, "Mr. North The Midwesterners, and the same CD that I reviewed last week on my site. StL is just too small.

People started coming in after 11 and the party was more of a sit down and eat dinner kind of thing until around midnite when people went upstairs to party. And talk about partiers, it was definitely an interesting scene up in there. One Asian female couple was dancing on the floor as though they were Girls Gone Wild Models (I got pics on OUT 115 to show you!).

I tripped on a couple of things (well more like three) at this event. One, there were barely any of those appetizer waiters for the party people. They had ONE trying t serve hundreds of people—and she was as tall as tattoo from fantasy Island (She had to raise her plate so people can see her!). Another was these sistas who were sitting down and I asked to take their pics. They looked at each other and one of them frowned, while the other was about to say YES until she shook her head no. Minutes later, I see the same two sistas getting their pics taken by a white guy! What was up with that? I didn’t want to assume, but maybe they had a trust issue or something against brothas with cameras.

Lastly, the beer that brie was issuing out was not FREE. Usually, at these events, beer is usually free. Not there. It was 2 bones. I mean I didn’t have a problem with that, but I would have thought at least the beer would be free (especially when they were mostly advertising the Grey Goose drink specials).

On Saturday, I had my first preliminary auditions for my upcoming, "masculine fashion show project" at the Emerson Library at Webster University. I had my right had woman with me, Jewelanda Hodges, to help assist with them and I was pleased at the turnout (had seven altogether), but not as pleased at the quality of guys.

True, it was an open call, but all eth guys I scouted in the malls last week, didn’t show up. But that’s showbiz. Some of the guys had experience, some didn’t (and it showed.) I had two to come from Fairview Heights Ill which was interesting. I had them to walk three times for walk, poise and physique. Some walked with attitude, some walked as though they were deer trapped in the headlights. I had one guy who was a banker for his day job and he walked like one. One guy had potential and he was definitely graceful on the runway. I see now that these auditions are going to get interesting (I may have Jewelanda tape them all and maybe sell it to the access channels for show).

One thing that I always get when I am doing auditions for projects is that that person thinks they are the one who will get called and they have that they-are-going-to-call-me attitude or they are extra nice to you. I see how the casting coach can result from auditions and how vulnerable people are when it comes to reaching their dreams.

On Sunday, I checked out the wrap party for the annual St. Louis International Film festival that was held at the new club, Mandarin in the Delmar Loop(SEEN ABOVE IS AEXEC DIRECTOR CLIFF FROEHLICH AND ARTISTIC DIRECTOR CHRIS CLARK IN BROWN SUIT COATS) I must say, I was highly impressed with the first class service. I got there about 8;30 ish When I walked to the building, there was an usher who asked if I was attending the Film festival party and I said yes and he told me to go to elevators and puss Floor 3 to get to the club. I went inside and they had two large billboards of the Mandarin’s club nights. When the doors open'd, I felt as though I was at a Japanese tea room with all of the artifacts and fung shway of the furniture up in there (and the HD plasma TV’s on the walls were off the chain, too).

The event was so-so (I don’t know what’s going on with these swank events!). There were no appetizer trays, but you could get your drink on at the cash bar. For the event to be free, I thought the Film fest would have at least had some free food for the partiers who were filmmakers, producers and patrons of the Festival—NOT. They had several photographers (One was a pushy white guy in a WC Fields hat from blacktie-st.louis).

The person I first recognized when I got there was local actress Johnnie Fernandez who was in the screened local film, "Tapestry of Shadows." She was there talking to some people. Later on, the director and also actor of "Tapestry: Daryl Conley with his date, co-star Cara Sevier came through about an hour later. A funny moment occurred when I re-met Lamon's Entertainment’s Mike Henderson (he remembered me from the Chingy CD Release Party a couple of months ago at drunken Fish on the Landing). We exchanged cards and he told me about some movie projects he was financing. Later on in the evening, he asked me, "Are you starting any trouble?" And, I retorted by saying, "I am trouble."

The place was like someone’s five star hotel suite—big rooms, lobby and a balcony that looked over the Water Fountain and the neighboring houses and businesses on Maryland Plaza. The dee-jay on the 1s and 2s was Andrew Mullins (one of four house deejays at mandarin) who was playing hip-hop and err thing in between.

Later on, the Artistic and Executive director of the film festival Chris Clark and Cliff Froehlich came to the event and they were doing the final tabulations for the winners of the juried prizes of the films. The big winner (and well-deserved) was the The Trials of Darryl Hunt (SEEN IN PIC ABOVE). The documentary took two awards for best documentary. The plot is a powerful and unsettling chronicle of the 20-year struggle to free a man twice convicted of a crime he didn't commit. In 1984, a young white newspaper reporter was raped, sodomized, and stabbed to death just blocks from where she worked in Winston-Salem, N.C. Based on an ID made by a former Klan member, a 19-year-old black man, Darryl Hunt, was charged. No physical evidence linked him to the crime, yet he was convicted by an all-white jury and sentenced to life imprisonment. In 1994, DNA testing cleared Hunt, yet he would spend another 10 years behind bars.

Also, Alton-based director Brian Jun (SEEN IN PIC ABOVE) took the Sundance Director Award for his film, Steel city" that was filmed in Alton in 2004, Alton, Ill., native Brian Jun has crafted a sensitively observed and unexpectedly hopeful drama about atonement in his first feature, a psychologically rich story of a dysfunctional family in a working-class community in a Southern Illinois town. The film hit home personally because I was an extra in this flick.

STL-TIDBITZ—In case you didn’t know, Clear Channel is cleaning more house with the employees in the STL area. This time it was the personalities on The Dee Lee Morning Show: Dee Lee, Ebony Walker and Jessie Taylor. They have been replaced with the syndicated show, "The Steve Harvey Show" (The Beats website even has Harvey's pic on there already!) The thing is, Steve Harvey will come on 5 am to 9 am (in competition with FOXY's Tom Joyner show that will air the same time!). Hmmm. Coincidence? Talk about automation taking over. Sooner or later, there will be no more local personalities on air and everything will be syndicated. This is definitely the digital satellite generation. The ST. Louis Post’s Kevin Johnson will have a story on this changeover this week. The change will start this coming up Monday. This sounds familiar (remember Q95.5 fired Craig Blac and his crew for the Tom Joyner Morning Show in 2004?). Well, this is showbiz and radio is part of it……>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Young music fans who personalize their cellphones with a choice of ringtones can go the extra step and have STL rapper Chingy (who is fresh off from presenting at the American Music Awards) announcing each of their friends when they call. Chingy, who's signed to EMI Group's Capitol Records, has recorded over a 100 versions of his 'Dem Jeans' single using a different popular girls' name each time. He replaced the word 'girl' in the chorus line "Damn Girl, How'd You Get In Dem Jeans?" for each version.
