OUT 142

Hello blogfans, this is Ma'atology here one mo' time for ya in the the third week of the new year (And when is it no longer to say new I wonder )

Well, the big story herre in ST. Louis on a local, national and even international tip is the Miracle on Missouri when boys Ben Ownby and Shawn Hornbeck was found in a Kirkwood apartment last Friday.

I was watching the tube something on FOX and saw teh breaking news newsfash and anchor Mandy Murphey looked as though she saw a ghost when she could barely get word sout that Ben Ownby (who was missing for four days) was found and Shawn Hornbeck (BOTH PICTURED ABOVE) was also found (who was missing for four years) and was found in the same apartment in Kirkwood (Alvin Reid's town BTW, LOL) owned by Michael Devlin (PICTURED ABOVE IN ORANGE) ! Whoa Nelly! That was too much playing (AND YOU KNOW THIS IS GOING TO BE THe NO. 1 NEWS EVENT OF 2007)

Well yawl already know the details but my thing is, if it wasnt for a tip by Ownby's Union High classmate, Mike Hults who was in a school bus and saw Ownby get led off in a white truck detail by deatail, I dont think they would have been found as quickly. A saresult, media have created some rock stars now. Ownby (who has a Colgate smile) and Horbeck';s story have been featured on Oprah and the Today shwo and Hults receievd a grand from Z-107.7 (via the MJ Morning Show) before he went to school this week.

And as of this writing, Devlin, who is being held on 3 mill bond, pleaded not guilty on one count of kidnappingin Franklin County. (Yeah. okay) He is also being tried for another count in Washinton County as well.

This is going to be a movie yawl know that right. In the meantime, because of teh rock star coverage, Ownby and Hornbeck cant leave out their houses or go to school because of the dangers of getting stalked by the papparazzi. now whats teh irony in that? They were kidnapped and trapped in a house and now they are free and still cant go outside!

Meanwhile, as this Owncy-Hornbeack saga wa sgoing on, the STL was dealing with another round of ice. LAst weekend, the storm left tens of thousands of electric customers without power. According to Ameren, "power remained out to more than 84,000 customers, with more than 71,000 of them in the St. Louis area."

Hundreds of people hunkered down in emergency shelters last week and thousands more made do in darkened homes as about 163,000 Missouri utility customers, mainly in the southwest part of the state, remained without power after a weekend winter storm.

Frigid temperatures in the single digits forecast for Tuesday night were expected to keep emergency shelters full in churches, fire stations and community centers across the afflicted region. The State Emergency Management Agency said 85 shelters were open throughout the state, serving an estimated population of more than 3,600 people.

OLD MAN WINTER IS REALLY SHOWING HER WHO IS THE BOSS! But my thing is, it would be a trip if Ameren is still talking about raising the price of electricty after all this fiasco. But then again....

In other newz: Looks like Schnucks groceries are lowering prices becasue of Wal-mart getting most of thebiz when it comes to prices (and their non-union, so go figure_). SO thenext timeyou go in Schnucks, the prices wont be typos....Run Obama Run! Thats seems like whats about to happen. Looks like Illinois Sen. Braka Obama may be running for Prez. He is getting is exploratory committee together next month. But he is still denying he aint runnin. Come on Obama, who do you think youre foolin?...And what was the deal with movie chains being skurred to show the flick, Stomp the Yard? Saying that the film may breed violence and its not a color thing (Doesn't this sound familiar, like Boyz N the Hood familiar?) I guess the controversy caused the flick to go. No. 1 last weekend with 22 million reaped at the Box Office. Now stomp that!

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

And Now on to my travels.

Because of the heavy ice storm that was hitting the west of the STL, many venues and event holders postponed their respective events to later dates (eg. The Anthony David concert at Gravity due to the weather and flight problems and the Grand Openong of Finale/Eye Candy Pageant at Society due to the weather, what was told, but there were two events I attended that stuck it out were painter/artist Kevin McCoy’s Unwrapped 2 art opening at Vaughan Cultural Center (VCC)and Sharee Galvin/Robert Kirk’s Pre-Martin Luther King celebration at 609 on Delmar.

On Saturday, I had more auditions for my fashion show and stageplay (
PICS CAN BE SEEN on OUT 141)

I checked out Kevin McCoy’s art exhibit at the VCC in Grand Center (PICTURED ABOVE WITH ONE OF HIS PIECES)> I met McCoy at the IAM Boutique grand opening party last month and he and his business partner and taken my pic at the event (CHECK OUT--OUT 129). I got there about 6ish and saw that the party was going on pretty smoothly. I tell ya, McCoy is extremely talented. He focuses on hip-hop culture through this paintings and photographs that were displayed at the center. I also didn’t realize that his older brother his local comedian Don Clair who was therre along with their parents in support of Kevin (who is very humble).

They had Kevin and his fiance (who is main supporter) Danielle Fields speak to the crowd thanking err body for attending the event. Touching moments came when older brother Don gave Kevin a medal of courage and when Kevin’s mother in law gave a moving speech about her son in law and she hugged both of them. The center’s director Kim Love gave a spiel about the center and Kevin donated one of his paintings to the center.

After that, we all schmoozed eating light appetizers catered by Michael’s catering and free Red Bull and vodka. I spotted a potential model by the name of Pierre, who I hope auditions fop my show. On the 1s and 2s was DJ Nappy Needles. Some of the local VIPs up in there were Treanna, Jamie Spencer, SYGU, and Black Spade.

FOR MORE PICS OF THIS EVENT GO TO OUT 140

On Sunday, I checked out Mocha Latte (PICTURED ABOVE WITH BLACK PEARL’S ROLAND PAGE AND DUKE GROUP’s TONY DUKES) and Robert Kirk’s Pre-Martin Luther King B-Day celebration. I had two beers (8 percent proof) before I got there to get nice and comfy. I got there about 9ish and mostly chilled with Mocha who was at the door collecting 5 bones for those who wanted to enter. I walked around a bit and saw the crowd was sparse (but it was still early). Maybe it was cause the rainy conditions, but I’ve seen when people went to an event in zero degree weather for the sake of partying, so….

Anyway, things started to pick up around 11ish and her business partners Calvin and Big Tah were therre to help her with the door. In the meantime, one guy from the event planning group Black Pearl 9with interesting piercings on his face) was buying Mocha shots of Patron like it was water (Thatw as too much playin.) But I mostly was therre to network for my masculine show project and met members of Black Pearl and Tony Dukes who owns a construction company about erecting my stage. Now my question was, now I now I was a bit buzzed, but didn’t Robert Kirk swearing rubberband ponytails?

I left out after midnite cause I was scheduled to work the late shift at the Water Geyser (which caused more drama) In the house were Frintline Security's Brian Stemmons, SYGU and Neiman Marcus’ Eugene Tsimerman and Jakada (who was entering and I was going out the door)

PICS OF THIS EVENT CAN BE SEEN ON OUT 141.

But the fun happened when I got to work. Now mind you, it was rainy. So when I got to the job, I drove my car up the driveway I proceeded to make a backwards turn to have my car face the fence area. Well, as I was doing this, I got stuck in some mud. Well, I did the back and forth thing and cause my car doesn’t have four wheel drive, my car‘s two front wheels sank into the mud clinching the wheels like a dog to a bone. I know my transmission was getting a whipping cause I was putting the pedal to the floor trying to get out of there to avoid calling a two truck, but I did and was out 75 bones for the 24 hour service I used. Damn, it was just a pulling of the car but I guess they treated it as though it was an actual tow to a destination. I didn’t trip and paid the company.

On MLK ‘s day, I rested all day and went to work that evening.

On Tuesday, I volunteered to be one of the stage managers for my buddy actor/director Joel King with his Launch Party event for his theatre company JPEK Productions. The vent will take place Sunday. Jan 28 (SEE EVENTZ BELOW FOR MORE INFO). They actors had practice at the Carpenter Branch Library on Delmar, but due to some “artistic differences” with the library, the rehearsals at local actress/singer Ms. NV’s house on Lafayette (I cant wait for the housewarming. LOL) Anyway, it seems as though the show is going to be like a greatest hits of JPEK Productions as me and Jeron Hicks help stage manage this Launch Party/Actor Expo event. I will keep you posted on this in the weeks to come.

BLIND ITEMZ. Which STL establishment postponed an special major event cause reportedly the club wasn’t ready to have the event therre due to not being ready to open?

WORDZ TO THE WHYS—the Golden Globe Awards. Why was the camera all on closeups with Beyonce after Jennifer Hudson and Eddie Murphy won for their Dreamgirls roles? Why did Justin Timberlake imitate Prince’s height at the mike when he accepted Prince’s award on his behalf when he was late due to traffic? Why was actor Jeremy Irons’ looked deshevelled in his slavemaster suit? Why were the celebrities constantly kissing Jack Nicholson’s ass all night? Why was Tom Hanks constantly talking about Warren Beatty’s balls? Why did actress Renee Zellwiger turn up her nose when she didn’t win? Why did Jamie Foxx try to get Dreamgirls director Bill Condon to get on stage with the producer of the film when it won Best Picture—Musical or Comedy? Why did Vanessa Williams show up late to get up on stage with her cast of Ugly Betty when they won Best Comedy?

STL-TIDBITZ. Did anyone see STL-based singer Whitney Cook on American Idol on Wednesday show? (If so, is she going to Hollywood?)….Sympathies go out to Stress Free Fridays co-creator Mark Anthony Jones who lost a member of his family. Congrats to Author Traci Foster for being one of the 20 authors who will be featured in the Literary Extravaganza at knowing Books on Jan. 20 (SEE EVENTZ BELOW FOR MORE INFO).

MA’AT-IDBITZ. I will be meeting with newly hired Vashon coach Anthony Bonner and Vaughan Cultural Center director Kim Love about being in my upcoming late fashion show and staging my play Monologues and Penisillin respectively this week….Much love to Kevin Bryan, Kamren Holbert and Vanita Applebum for helping me out on this fashion show project.

Dear Friends & Family

I've been searching for pt, ft, or contractual employment now for several months. I've been laid off from work and this has been a very difficult process and time for me. I've been applying everywhere and I've been told that I'm over qualified or the potential employers are not following up with for an interview. I really need your help.

I have a GED, a bachelors degree and a masters degree (I'm almost done with my second masters degree) I'm requesting any assistance you can provide or your constituents. If you know of anyone you can refer me to please forward my resume and let me know. It's greatly appreciated and anything you can do would be great..

Thanks in advance, Nichol Stevenson deeprooted2@yahoo.com

If any of yawl can help her out, email her.
